The charges that apply in providing assistance to our clients in the administration of an estate will vary depending on the assets comprising the estate, both in terms of value and makeup, the terms of any will or application of the Intestacy Provisions, and more importantly the level of support that you wish to receive from our experienced team of solicitors who specialise in this area. Our aim is to provide the guidance that you require during the administration period of an estate.
Although it is difficult to provide an accurate cost as each estate will be different, we offer a free initial consultation to obtain the details needed to provide you with an accurate fee estimate based on the level of support that you require from us. By the end of that free consultation we aim to provide you with a fixed fee to give you certainty. If a fixed fee is not possible for any reason (which will be identified and discussed at that consultation), then we will inform you of the basis of our charges.
Our professional charges can be a little as £1500+VAT and any external payments (such as the Probate Court Fee which is currently £155 plus an additional 50p for each sealed copy needed) in straightforward matters where there is no Inheritance Tax to pay and an only an abbreviated Inland Revenue Return is needed. This is on the basis that you are happy to undertake some of the preliminary work to supply the required information and proceed to administer the estate after Grant of Probate has been issued. In more complicated estates our professional charges for acting for you in all aspects of the administration of an estate in most cases will vary between 1%-2.5% of the gross value of the estate.
Please see our guide to the usual steps in the administration of an estate . It may be that not all apply in your circumstances but it may be of assistance and identifies the steps and likely timescales that we look to keep when acting on your behalf .
It will depend on the complexity of the estate as to which solicitor will act for you, based on the experience that you need. They are all supported by legal assistants and supervised by our experienced Partners to ensure that you always have at least 3 points of contact to ensure that you receive the highest possible level of service.
