News | 23 July 2026
Thackray Williams is pleased to announce its Residential Real Estate and Private Wealth teams have been recognised once again in the prestigious Chambers High Net Worth Guide this year.
Thackray Williams is celebrating enhanced industry rankings for its expertise in legal advice for high-net-worth individuals. The firm now has two departments and four solicitors listed in the prestigious Chambers HNW Guide 2026, which highlights the leading private wealth lawyers, law firms and other professional advisers globally.
Thackray Williams has retained its Band 2 departmental rankings for Private Wealth Law (Kent) and Real Estate: High Value Residential (National Leaders outside London), while Partner Elliot Lewis has retained his Band 2 ranking for Private Wealth Law.
Partner Claire Josef has been upgraded to Band 2 Real Estate High Value Residential (National Leaders outside London), while Associate Licensed Conveyancer Andy Ringham is ranked in the same category for the first time (Band 3). Partner Nima Stepney has also made the guide for the first time, listed as Up and Coming for Private Wealth Law.
“Fewer than 6% of lawyers nationally are ranked by Chambers, so to have four colleagues and both the Private Wealth and Real Estate sectors in the High Net Worth Guide is objective testimony of the expertise that Thackray Williams is able to offer to wealthy individuals, couples and families to help them manage complex assets efficiently and effectively, often across multiple jurisdictions,” explains Co-Managing Partner and head of the Private Wealth sector, Anthony Macey.
“Elliot Lewis has had long-standing recognition as a leading Private Wealth lawyer. We’re delighted that Nima Stepney now joins him in the Nigh Net Worth guide – a reflection of the complex and valuable matters on which she advises and the peace of mind and confidence that she delivers for her clients,” he adds. “Property is the lynchpin of many high-net-worth estates. Having our Real Estate sector and both Claire Josef and Andrew Ringham recognised as national leaders in High Value Residential outside London affirms the knowledge and skill that Thackray Williams provides for those undertaking high-value property transactions and investments,” comments Co-Managing Partner and Head of the Real Estate sector, Vikki Herbert.
Chambers High Net Worth Guide covers private wealth management work and related specialisms in key jurisdictions around the world. Its team investigates more than 55 countries, including every major private wealth market across six continents.
Lawyers and firms are assessed on their expertise, notable achievements, client satisfaction indices, market reputation. The researchers also conduct confidential client interviews. Successful teams and individuals also have to demonstrate exemplary standards of professional conduct and how they save clients time and money.
Receiving positive feedback from our clients and peers is always rewarding, valuable and appreciated.
In this year's Guide glowing feedback received for the Private Wealth team included:
"I rate Thackray William's ability to handle complex and sophisticated matters very highly. The team demonstrates strong technical depth across private client and trust-related issues and is comfortable dealing with other jurisdictions, family dynamics and long-term planning considerations. What stands out is also their ability to apply technical knowledge in a practical and well-judged way, while keeping solutions clear and proportionate."
"Thackray Williams stands out not only for its technical legal expertise, but the genuine care and humanity with which the team approaches every case. They do not treat matters as files or transactions; they advocate for their clients as if they were members of their own family. I have consistently seen a level of compassion, patience and presence that is very rare."
"Elliot Lewis is widely respected not only by clients and the local professional community, but also by peers within the Court of Protection and private client field. What truly distinguishes Elliot is his ability to combine technical excellence with genuine humanity."
"Nima combines outstanding ability with genuine compassion, patience and clarity, which is particularly important when supporting vulnerable clients and families in sensitive and emotionally charged situations. What truly distinguishes Nima is her natural commercial instinct and creative approach."
And for the Residential Real Estate team:
"Thackray Williams stands out for their communication, reputation and knowledge – the experience and knowledge enabling them to help advise clients. They have a wide-reaching team that covers our area thoroughly, and all points of contact that I have had dealings with are excellent."
"Thackray Williams are able to think outside of the traditional conveyancing box. They are able to find solutions to complicated problems that a standard conveyancer would not."
"Claire has been exceptional this year. She has suggested totally out-of-the-box solutions that have saved deals and kept entire chains together, acting not just for her clients and ours but for the greater chain as a whole, assisting solicitors and conveyancers further up with additional knowledge they perhaps were lacking."
"Andrew is our main point of contact and has always been exceptional with how he deals with clients, and the experience and knowledge that he brings."
