The announcement was made at a special presentation evening on Sunday 12th October celebrating the ‘Players of the Month’ of each of the club’s 20 girls’ teams. The presentation followed the first match for the women’s First Team at the club’s new home site, GB10, in Eltham, in which they defeated Ashford United 6-0.

Vikki Herbert, co-Managing Partner of Thackray Williams and head of the firm’s Real Estate sector, and Lewis Glasson, Sports Partner at Thackray Williams, presented the trophies to the Players of the Month and met their families.

“As a law firm led by two female Managing Partners, alongside one male Managing Partner, Thackray Williams is delighted to be supporting the girls and women at AFC Greenwich Borough,” commented Vikki Herbert. “We share aligned values and goals with Greenwich Borough and are looking forward to supporting the club in its exciting next chapter."

As a firm headquartered in Bromley, Thackray Williams shares the club’s mission of encouraging opportunity and talent in our local community in South East London, and particularly value the academy’s role in inspiring grass roots enthusiasm, participation and fitness as well as nurturing talent through to professional standard.

“As a firm with ambitious plans for the future and a growing Sports sector, Thackray Williams is looking forward to playing a proactive role in supporting Greenwich Borough’s vision as it goes from strength to strength with its thriving academy, new ground and plans for a new stadium – as well as the determination shown by the senior women’s side in earning their place in the FA Cup alongside the strong start for the men’s First Team in the Southern Counties East Football League,” added Lewis Glasson.

“It’s fantastic to have the support of both Thackray Williams and Macauley Smith,” said Paul Whitehead, Chairman of AFC Greenwich Borough. “We’re building a network of partnerships both to support the club and to provide their expertise to our families and supporters when needed.”

Also at the presentation was The Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust, AFC Greenwich Borough’s new charity partner, for which the club launched an appeal for donations to its campaign for Christmas presents for children on cancer wards in South London, North Kent and East Surrey this festive season.
