News  |   5 November 2026

Thackray Williams has been recognised by The Times as one of the country’s top 250 law firms for the first time. The Times’ Top 250 legal practices in England and Wales are based on recommendations from peers in legal firms.  Thackray Williams is particularly cited for expertise within its Private Wealth sector.

This accolade, along with the recent improved rankings in Chambers and Legal 500, continue to reinforce the firm’s growing reputation for expertise and excellence in advising individuals and businesses across a wide range of sectors.

“To be recognised by our peers and by The Times as one of the leading law firms in the country is fantastic acknowledgement of Thackray Williams’ growth journey. It evidences the range and depth of our expertise, as well as our growing reputation as approachable, pragmatic professional partners able to assist clients in all areas of their personal and professional lives,” comments Co-Managing Partner Emma Thompson.

“The recognition by The Times reflects the growing complexity of cases that we handle within Private Wealth, particularly for those with more extensive assets, and our commitment to achieving solutions that support the best interests of our clients,” adds Co-Managing Partner Anthony Macey, who heads the Private Wealth sector.

The recognition by The Times comes hot on the heels of further success for Thackray Williams in leading sector directories, with four practice areas and six individuals recognised in the 2027 Chambers UK listings and six categories ranked in the latest Legal 500 guide. These achievements have been underpinned by continued investment in people and culture.

“As a people-powered business, our ability to attract, develop and retain exceptional lawyers and support professionals has been fundamental to our growth and success. We're continuing to invest in the next generation of talent, while also seeking experienced lawyers who want to be part of an ambitious, collaborative and fast-growing firm, particularly in key growth areas such as employment and their expanding specialism of neurodiversity,” comments Head of People and Wellbeing, Karen Bateman.

Separately, the Residential Property team has also been named as one of the top in the country by eprivateclient in its annual rankings. “These achievements reflect the exceptional standard of our work, the strength of our client relationships, the calibre of our people and the success of our culture. Together they demonstrate the growing impact and reputation of Thackray Williams across the South East and beyond,” summarises Vikki Herbert.
