A single thread runs through all our family disputes work – remembering lives are affected by every decision.

How our family team can assist you

Our specialist family and divorce lawyers in London, Kent and the South East have extensive, and specialist experience of helping clients through a range of personal matters.  With offices in Bromley, West Wickham, Sevenoaks and London, our family solicitors assist with a range of personal matters including children, civil partnerships, divorce, separation, domestic abuse, injunctions, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, asset protection and unmarried couples.

Family law demands a special combination of empathy and expertise. Which is why our team starts by first understanding the people and personalities involved before focusing on the finer legal details.

Perhaps you're initiating a divorce or responding to a divorce application? Seeking new lawyers for an ongoing case? Or considering reopening an old one? Our divorce solicitors will help you arrive at the best possible outcome.

Of course, more complex divorce cases often demand deep and diverse knowledge: understanding the ins and outs of private companies, property empires, trusts, international/hidden assets and investments. As a firm, we also offer the personal and business advice frequently needed on tax, trusts and wills, protecting property and other important high-value assets.

But while the hard facts are crucial, we never lose sight of the people who matter: the families involved.

Thinking about your next steps with a family matter?

Family law advice

Family law matters can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what your options are, what the process involves or where to start.

Thackray Williams offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation with one of our experienced family lawyers. Our free 30-minute telephone consultation gives you the opportunity to talk through your situation with an experienced family lawyer and understand how we may be able to help.

 1.  Your free 30-minute telephone consultation

The consultation is an opportunity to:

  • explain what is happening and what you are hoping to achieve;
  • identify the key issues you may need advice on;
  • ask questions about how we can help;
  • discuss likely timescales and costs; and
  • decide on the best next step for you.

There is no obligation to instruct us following the consultation.

2.  For tailored advice - £250 plus vat

Sometimes, understanding your particular circumstances properly requires more time and detailed legal advice.

If you would like us to advise you more fully, we offer a 60-minute Family Law Advice Meeting starting from £250 plus VAT

At this meeting, your solicitor can consider your circumstances in greater detail and provide tailored advice on your legal position, your options and the steps you may wish to take next.

3.  Add written advice – £100 plus VAT

If you would like a written record of the advice provided at your meeting, you can add a written advice letter for a further £100 plus VAT.

This provides a useful summary of your legal position, the options discussed and the recommended next steps, giving you something to refer back to after the meeting.

4.  Bespoke legal advice and representation

Tailored support at hourly rates to suit your needs and budget.

If your circumstances require more than a one-off advice meeting, we can provide bespoke legal advice and representation tailored to your needs.

This might include negotiating with your former partner or their solicitor, preparing or reviewing legal documents, advising on financial disclosure, dealing with court proceedings, or providing ongoing support through your separation or divorce.

We have a range of hourly rates across our family team, so we can work with you to identify the right level of support for your circumstances and budget. We will discuss with you what support you need, the likely costs and the best way of working together before any further work is undertaken.

Whether you need help with a particular issue or full representation throughout your matter, we can tailor our involvement to what you need and what works for you financially.

Advice that works for you

Family law is rarely one-size-fits-all. You choose the level of support that is right for you and can move between the different stages as your circumstances change.

Whether you need a quick initial conversation, detailed advice about your particular circumstances, a written summary to take away, or ongoing legal support and representation, our experienced family lawyers are here to help.
