Galbraith Gorman

Galbraith is an associate solicitor in our Family Department who qualified in 2015. He joined Thackray Williams in September 2019 and is based at the firm’s Head Office in Bromley.

Prior to establishing his practice in family law, Galbraith spent five years working at the Royal Courts of Justice within the Court of Appeal Criminal Division. His experience working for the court service gave him an in-depth knowledge of the court’s processes and procedures which informs him when advising his clients who are engaged in or contemplating litigation.

Galbraith went on to undertake his training contract in a niche law firm in London Bridge. He made the transition into family law at a multi-disciplinary firm in South London where he dealt primarily with children matters along with a broader range of cases involving domestic violence, sexual abuse allegations, internal relocation and care work. Compassionate by nature, his approach to clients is sensitive and empathetic and he deploys a hands-on approach to each case providing creative, case-specific solutions. Galbraith regularly represents clients himself at a variety of hearings throughout the court process.

Here at Thackray Williams, Galbraith advises on all aspects of family law work, specialising in divorce cases with a particular focus on financial remedies and private matters involving children disputes. He has been instructed on matters involving same-sex couples and cohabiting couples and often prepares pre-nuptial and post nuptial agreements as well as cohabitation and separation agreements. As a member of Resolution, he prioritises a non-confrontational approach, promoting negotiation and mediation where possible but has demonstrated an ability to litigate successfully where necessary.

Outside of work, Galbraith is a keen footballer and for years, he was the vice-captain of a Saturday league side which competed in the Surrey Combined Counties League each week. He prioritises health and well-being and regularly attends the gym and has obtained a Padi qualification in scuba diving. Nowadays, he is kept busy running around after his toddler!
