Rachel Joined Thackray Williams in July 2023 as an Associate Solicitor in the Private Client Department.
After completing her LLB Law Degree and Legal Practice Course, Rachel trained with Thackray Williams qualifying as a solicitor in 2009. Thereafter she worked for many years with well-established regional firms in Surrey and Kent before returning to Thackray Williams.
Rachel is a member of the Law Society Private Client Section and a Fully Accredited Member of Solicitors for the Elderly signifying her ability to understand and accommodate the needs of those clients who may be particularly vulnerable. She is also an Associate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners; a professional body recognised worldwide and formed with only the most experienced practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.
Rachel deals with a variety of Private Client matters including the preparation of Wills to include Trust and tax-planning provisions, preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney for both financial and medical decisions, registration of existing Enduring Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian and the administration of estates of varying degrees of complexity. She also deals with supplementary matters often arising during the course of an estate administration matter such as Capital Gains Tax mitigation where a tax liability might arise on a sale of assets and the preparation of Deeds of Variation for beneficiaries wishing to redirect their inheritance to others.
Rachel would like to consider herself as approachable, dependable and receptive. She is pleased to offer straightforward practical advice tailored to suit the needs of each individual client, recognising there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach.
In her spare time Rachel can often be found planning the next project for she and her husband in an attempt to modernise their recently purchased and much-loved new home. When time allows she also enjoys venturing on a sunny holiday having enjoyed many wonderful trips over the years, with Italy ranking highly as a particular favourite.
