Thackray Williams, has introduced a range of initiatives spanning improving environmental performance, strengthening governance and supporting local communities as it develops its Environmental, Social and Governance policy.
The initiatives have been informed by an independent report conducted in August 2024 to provide a benchmark of where the firm was and how we could adapt to reduce our carbon footprint.
“Our first step was to launch our own ESG Committee, bringing together passionate volunteers from across the business to provide strategic support to our Leadership Team to build a more sustainable and responsible business for the future,” explains Amy Hine, Head of Risk & Compliance and the firm’s ESG Lead.
The Committee has spearheaded supply chain and operational changes, including the introduction of more sustainable suppliers and measures to reduce paper usage and resource consumption across its operations.
Thackray Williams has joined with other companies at our Bromley office to plant trees in the communal gardens. Our employees have been given Volunteer Days to assist with a rewilding project in the gardens of the West Wickham office. Specific planting schemes have been adopted to boost local biodiversity and attract pollinators and wildlife, while creating a welcoming and vibrant environment for the team, clients and neighbours.
The firm has also become a ‘Commercial Partner’ in the Environmental Business Network to connect and learn from ambitious, insightful and forward-thinking individuals and organisations.
A key part of Thackray Williams’ ESG expansion has been developing support for local communities. We have introduced a structured volunteering programme, giving employees dedicated time to contribute to initiatives that make a tangible difference within the communities we serve.
In addition, we have continued to build relationships with local organisations and charities, providing both practical support and fundraising initiatives throughout the year, alongside participation in community-led projects across our Kent and London offices. Key partnerships include Crystal Palace FC’s Palace for the Planet, a local food bank and dementia-friendly support networks.
