David Lea qualified as a Solicitor in 2010, before joining Thackray Williams in 2014.

A Solicitor in the Private Client Department, David assists clients in tax planning of both Inheritance and Capital Gains Tax. He also specialises in drafting Wills, preparing Lasting Powers of Attorneys and administering estates both taxable and non-taxable. David’s role often involves liaising with other Solicitors within the firm, providing bespoke advice to their clients, often in the field of tax planning. This allows Thackray Williams to offer tailored and holistic advice to clients that best suits their needs.

David acts on behalf of clients who have assets that exceed the Inheritance tax threshold. Providing advice to assist clients in mitigating their tax liability, David also explains the options for structuring their Wills. Communicating effectively, by explaining complex legal issues in terms that clients can clearly understand, is one of David’s core strengths. Approachable and relied upon for keeping clients up to date, David will always endeavour to provide clients with information on the likely timescale and fees.

Enjoying the client contact his job brings, David finds reward in assisting people at a difficult time, whilst helping to alleviate the stress and burden of having to administer the estate of a loved one. He also enjoys discussing new and complex cases with colleagues.

A member of the Thackray Williams Charity Committee, David supports a local charity by participating in several fund raising events throughout the year. He recently took part in a 60-mile charity bike ride from the Bromley Office to Whitstable as part of a Thackray Williams cycling team, to raise money for the Bromley Community Fund.

When not at work, David enjoys playing golf .......where he recently got a hole in one!
