Headway SELNWK is a charitable organisation providing support and services to individuals, family members and carers of those affected by an acquired brain injury across South London and North Kent.

Survivors of brain injury face a long recovery process. Following discharge from hospital, the majority carry on experiencing persistent problems as a result of their injuries.

Headway offers help and support to ease their members return to home, work and community.

Paul and David witnessed Headway’s members using the IT facilities, developing skills and helping to relax through arts and crafts, needle work, taking part in poetry and literature activities, as well as a competitive game of hangman taking place when we arrived. There are a number of rooms allowing Headway to assist a number of people at various stages throughout their recovery period.

When they visited, some of the members had not only cooked the food, but also served it to the group. Their tour guide, one of the members, explained how when Headway started to help her, she was unable to walk. This shows just how much of a difference Headway can make.

Anyone at any time of their life can be affected by those with brain injury and looking for support. Headway have recently opened a new Bromley centre and Thackray Williams are looking forward to working with Headway SELNWK, by sponsoring their charity abseil and continuing to work with them to support their growth and provision of more services.
