Gardening at Mission Care

2 September 2015

As part of our commitment to our charity of the year, Mission Care, Friday saw a group of TW staff volunteering their time by gardening at Elmwood Care home, one of Mission Cares’ five homes. The day involved lots of digging, planting, painting and even installing a water feature, luckily the rain stayed away too!

The project has been overseen by Mission Care’s finance manager, Stephen Parker, who wanted to create a space that offers a place to relax for the residents. ‘’ The peace and quiet can help ease stress, anxiety, agitation and aggressive behaviour. It has been lovely watching the project move from the initial design, fund raising, construction to almost completion.’’ The last part of the project is to install a wheelchair friendly path that links the new features (including herb gardens and water fountains’) together.

Mission Care providing nursing and residential care for over 200 residents at homes across South East London. More information on their care homes can be found on their website.
