According to NHS England, 1 person develops dementia every 3 minutes in the UK, over the last few weeks we have been involved in several events raising awareness about Dementia.
As part of Dementia Awareness Week 2018, Nima Stepney a solicitor in private client department delivered a Dementia Friends session to the department. Nima is a volunteer with Alzheimer’s Society and is trained as a Dementia Champion. Dementia Friends is a social action movement that aims to increase the understanding of dementia and inspire people to take action and support people affected by dementia in their community in order to live well with dementia. Thackray Williams specialise in assisting clients with dementia and therefore are committed to training staff to become dementia friends and Nima will be running more training sessions.

On the 13th May TW staff took part in the Run Walk or Push for Dementia Sevenoaks Fun Run in Knole Park. Participants included Alex Willingham, Stephen Yau, William Addis, Jon Grindley, Steph Sculley, Claire Grice, Anthony King, David Lea, Nick Fernyhough and Sarah Mills who helped out on the day.
Special mentions go to Stephen who finished 1st in the 5k, Alex who finished 5th and Will who finished 8th out of 184 participants. An extra special mention goes to David Lea who accidentally ran 10k instead of 5k!
