The trainees were pitted against 19 teams from other member firms of Law South, a network of leading law firms in the South of England, all vying to win the Business cup trophy.
The competition involved the trainees simulating the running of their own law firm in a recession - making decisions such as, how many offices the firm should buy; what price should fees be set at; how many staff are employed. There were several rounds in which they had to all agree on making executive decisions, which they said is not as easy as you think! However they worked extremely well as a team.
The winner was judged on how they conducted their firm and how appealing it was to the judge to buy the business as a going concern. The judges were very impressed with our trainees.
