Trained in the City of London and practised there for 5 years. In 1983 started a one-man firm in London SE20 (Sharp Thackray) carrying out a cross range of work from conveyancing to probate to matrimonial to litigation. As the firm grew, increasingly specialised in non-contentious work i.e. property, wills & probate.
Negotiated merger with Wood & Sons in 1995 (thereafter known as Thackray Wood). Further considerable growth including taking over other local firms of Cole & Matthews (Beckenham) and then Bartlett Gregory Collins & Snow (Bromley) until negotiating a further merger with Leigh Williams (now Thackray Williams) in 2004. Thereafter taking over the firms of Straker Holford in Lewisham and Raw & Co in Bromley.
Lectured at Bromley College to trainee Legal Executives in Family Law and Wills & Probate.
Appointed by the Law Society as a Local Conciliation Officer to resolve solicitor/client disputes.
Appointed to the board of Law South in 2006
