Zahra specialises in Wills and Tax Planning for both UK and non-UK domiciled individuals. In addition, she has a varied caseload of general private client work, such as powers of attorney, probate and the administration of estates, with a particular focus on cross-border estates and those which include business assets.
She has an interest in working with charities and has significant experience in charity registrations and advising on the appropriate structure for this type of organisation, as well as providing ongoing advice to charity trustees in relation to their legal duties.
Zahra has a genuine ability to put herself in the other person’s shoes and empathise with them. This, together with her technical strengths and eye for detail, allows her to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients. She believes in developing a long-lasting professional relationship with her clients and is keen to be their trusted advisor.
After graduating with a law degree from Queen Mary, University of London, Zahra undertook the Legal Practice Course at the College (now University) of Law in Bloomsbury. Thereafter, she trained and qualified into the private client department of a well-known law firm in the West End of London. Zahra worked there for seven years specialising in private client work for high net worth individuals, before joining Thackray Williams in June 2016
Zahra is a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), a professional body recognised the world over and which admits only the most experienced practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. Zahra is also a full member of the Private Client Section of the Law Society and will in due course be embarking upon the Chartered Institution of Taxation exams, with a view to gaining an additional qualification as a Chartered Tax Advisor.
In her spare time, she likes to cook and experiments with a variety of cuisines from across the world, inspired by her own cultural background. She is active in her local community: you will find her volunteering every week at her faith community’s Saturday school as well as getting involved in other local projects concerning the homeless and those less well off in society. Zahra has a passion for travelling and languages and is currently studying colloquial Arabic and Farsi in her spare time. She recently undertook a trip to Iraq with a group of volunteers who carried out pro bono work at a school set up for children orphaned in the conflict. The experience moved her so much that she plans to continue volunteering with this project.
