After graduating with a law degree, Sarah completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Nottingham Law School. Starting out as a Legal Advocate, she completed the New York Bar and became an Attorney and Counsellor at Law in New York in December 2015. Sarah is also on the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.
Sarah works as a Solicitor in the Employment department of Thackray Williams, having qualified in April 2016. Her work covers all types of employment law, including drafting, advising, reviewing and negotiating. Sarah also manages the day-to-day employment issues concerning everything from settlement/compromise agreements, to employment related contracts and agreements, employment policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievances, redundancy, wages, maternity and paternity, flexible working and discrimination and harassment.
Within the Employment department, Sarah supports and assists the Partner and Head of Department, Emma Thompson, with both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. In addition, Sarah advises on settlement agreements and general employment related matters. Dedicated to her area of expertise, Sarah is always willing to go the extra mile.
Regarding herself as approachable and not a ‘stereotypical lawyer’, Sarah credits her ability to communicate both orally and in writing to her significant legal advocacy experience. Having advanced interpersonal skills enables clients to have trust and confidence in her. Sarah offers a sense of empathy to a client. This assists when explaining unexpected fees, advising that a case has poor prospects or making the client feel they have someone whom they can trust. Client service is at the forefront of the working life of a lawyer, according to Sarah. Without good client service, you would not have any clients and therefore your practice would be non-existent.
When not working, Sarah enjoys watching Tottenham Hotspurs, doing something sport related, exploring London, eating and drinking and spending time with family and friends.
