Riona Staunton studied Law at Portsmouth University, during which time she gained a great deal of legal work experience. On completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Guildford with a distinction, Riona went to work for a local Criminal and Family law firm as a Family Paralegal. Riona then joined Thackray Williams in September 2015 to start her Training Contract. As a Trainee Solicitor, she gained experience in the following departments; Family, Personal Injury, Commercial, Private Client, Employment and Litigation.
Riona is now a solicitor in the family department undertaking mostly divorce, financial and private children work. Interacting with clients, Riona will always go out of her way to help keep clients happy and at ease as their matter proceeds. This is one of Riona’s favourite things about the job. She particularly enjoys being able to use her people skills, always doing her best to ensure the client is happy, feels supported and in capable hands. Believing trust to be very important in all areas of law, Riona understands that clients are often going through stressful and difficult times and it is important to be mindful of this when working with them. She particularly enjoys working in the legal sector because it is intellectually demanding, yet also very rewarding through helping those in need.
Riona is a member of Thackray Williams Charity Committee and supports our chosen charity. Riona participates in fundraising events and has also attended a Care Home to make arts and crafts at Christmas with the residents along with supporting the local homeless shelter during the winter months.
In her down time, Riona enjoys Small Circle Jujitsu, running and going to the gym. Her other interests include clay pigeon shooting, cooking, painting, playing guitar and riding motorbikes.
