Career

Graeme Weir is a Partner and Head of Thackray Williams’ Debt Recovery Department, with over 25 years’ experience in this area. In 1989, Graeme joined the Litigation department of Leigh Williams, later moving on to become a Partner at Thackray Williams after merger.

In his role, Graeme secures new clients for the department, utilising his vast amount of experience to ensure he understand the client’s business or needs.  Being able to identify the best way to optimise the prospect of a recovery from the panoply of processes available, allows Graeme to formulate the right plan for his clients. In conjunction with his team, that plan is implemented, keeping the client informed throughout the process. If any debt needs a greater allocation of resources invested in them, Graeme will liaise as appropriate with the Litigation Department to take any Multi-track action to trial.

Graeme strives to ensure a client’s experience of the debt recovery process is as painless as possible. He feels it is important clients have such faith and confidence in his team’s professionalism and abilities that they return to them, should future debts arise. Developing strong empathy, being sympathetic towards and conscious of any client’s costs concerns, Graeme will always seek to accommodate them wherever possible. In addition to delivering the best results, providing reassurance and instilling confidence is an important part of Graeme’s role, along with good communication skills. Graeme has secured a personal entry in the Legal 500, as being an expert in his field.

Away from work, Graeme is a Director of Bromley Bid Limited – a company created to improve Bromley Town Centre for the benefit of all. He enjoys spending time with his wife, their three children and their dog. An avid supporter of Chelsea Football club, when not attending the games, Graeme enjoys walking his dog thinking about the last 3 points Chelsea lost....

Has specialist interest and knowledge in the collection of rent and service charge and major works costs for Housing Associations, Managing Agents and Landlords.

He commonly acts for all sectors of the building and construction industry (and their associated professionals) in the collection of their debts.
