Our Ethos
Client Service
We know that the goodwill we build with our clients is our most important asset. The Managing Partner, Simon Thackray, takes a personal interest in the work of each of our legal advisers to ensure that all client contact is of a consistently high standard. If you do have any questions for him about our firm or the services we provide, email him at simon.thackray@thackraywilliams.com.
Core Values
The firm has evolved its own core values, which influence the way staff go about their business with clients and with each other.

LEXCEL

We have been accredited with the highly prized LEXCEL Practice Management Standard. This is a quality mark specifically for solicitors. Only 3% of firms in private practice have attained this standard. The standard is recognition that our clients can expect to receive a 1st class service.
Legal 500

Find us in the Legal 500.
“Thackray Williams places great emphasis on close client relationships and combines a very modern practical approach with traditional values.”
The Legal 500 has developed into the largest and most in-depth survey of the UK legal market. By size Thackray Williams is ranked 394 in the UK. See our entry at www.legal500.co.uk.
Governance
We are members of Law South which has its own risk management team audits of its members every year. These are thorough and painstaking and ensure that Thackray Williams and the other members are fully compliant with all regulations and requirements. Thackray Williams also employs a Working Practices Manager who creates and updates policy. These policies are then placed on the intranet to ensure that all staff are compliant in their daily procedures.
Environmental Policy
We are committed to efficient use of resources and protection of the environment. All waste paper is recycled and confidential waste paper is shredded before re-cycling. Our company car scheme was discontinued in 2007 and a Smart car was made available for use as a pool car. We source supplies from recycled materials whenever possible.
Top Legal Employer

We feature in the Sweet & Maxwell publication ‘Top Legal Employers’. This is produced by CRF an independent organisation that initiates and coordinates research projects in business worldwide. CRF aims to contribute to a better awareness and understanding of corporate culture, effective human resource management and the business strategies of successful enterprises, by researching the key factors behind their success and publishing its findings.
The process involves a study of the way we operate in the following areas:
- Pay and benefits
- Promotion & Development
- Training
- Culture & Style
- Innovation
- Diversity
- Corporate Social Responsibility
