Properties with Consevation Areas

If your property lies within a conservation area you could face difficulties when making alterations. This is because there are additional planning controls in Conservation Areas which ensure that the area’s character and appearance is protected. The Council can require additional information in support of planning applications, including how the proposals will relate to the Conservation Area and trees in these areas are also given extra protection. In addition, Conservation Area Consent is required if you propose to demolish a building or part of one, including walls and outhouses, and undertaking demolition works without consent is a criminal offence. Therefore, if you are buying a property within a Conservation Area or wish to extend or alter your property, we can offer advice on the planning requirements involved and assist you in ensuring that the stringent legislation is complied with.
